Fatal Benbrook accident may have involved speeding, racing

A 17-year-old Benbrook girl was killed in a car accident while on lunch break from school, KDFW reported on December 12.

The accident allegedly involved three vehicles, all within the 6000 block of Highway 377 in Benbrook, Texas. One of the vehicles was not involved in impact, according to police. Esperanza Contreras was a passenger in an SUV driven by one of her schoolmates from Fort Worth Western Hills High School. Three others were also injured in the accident, including a friend of Contreras, and they were transferred to a local hospital.

Although the police did not confirm their comments, Contreras’ family conjectured that speed or racing could have been an element of the accident. The police did, however, ascertain that alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the incident. The accident remains under investigation by authorities.

The attorneys at the Law Offices of Mark T. Lassiter extend their deepest thoughts to the friends and family during this difficult time.
