Tuberculosis exposure to infants in El Paso hospital

Over 700 babies at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso were exposed to tuberculosis from a hospital employee who is suffering from the disease, CBS DFW reported on September 21.

According to the recent announcement, the babies may have been exposed between September 2013 and August 2014. El Paso County health authority Dr. Hector Ocaranza said the hospital’s staff and workers are currently being tested, and those who have already undergone the process are waiting for their test results.

Ocaranza added that employment and medical records are being examined to discern whom among the employees might have been infected, with the goal of pinpointing the specific identities of the infants who may have gotten the brunt of the exposure.
