Bus filled with elderly passengers involved in fatal accident near Dallas

A charter bus carrying several 66 to 80-year-old passengers to a casino in Oklahoma was involved in a fatal accident along the President George Bush Turnpike near Dallas on Thursday, April 11.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel, two people have died and more than forty were injured when the Cardinal Coach Lines bus they were riding flipped over on its side on a grassy area after smashing into a concrete barrier.

Police and Irving Fire Department emergency personnel worked non-stop to free dozens who were trapped inside the bus, from which smoke and fuel were emanating.

Parkland Hospital authorities said that 4 of the 15 who were seriously injured are in critical condition.

National Transportation Safety Board investigators said it would take some time before they were able to find out exactly what happened.
